Our Mission
To make disciples of all nations, demonstrating God’s grace and teaching them to observe all things Christ commanded. (based on Matthew 28:19-20)
Our Vision
A planting movement establishing and and nurturing vibrant, healthy churches and RUF (college/university) ministries that reflect God’s power and glory by transforming lives through the Gospel and capturing the West for Christ, especially reaching disenfranchised Mormons who are struggling under works-righteousness.
Christ’s Kingdom is expanding in Utah; We Envision 5 PCA churches in a “destitute region” multiplying in 10 years to:
- 15 Churches directly reaching 2,000 souls every week through their congregational ministries and impacting their communities.
- Several RUF ministries reaching numerous students at a key point in their lives so they carry the message of Christ’s love and grace with them into the world.
- An established and active Presbytery that impacts Utah with an evangelical, reformed message both by itself and in partnership with other like-minded denominations.
- A thriving and relational fellowship of churches with interns, apprentices, evangelists and campus ministers being shepherded and nurtured; providing the optimal environment for planting success.
Mission Utah and its Role
- Created by then 5 Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) churches to increase traction in church planting efforts without a presbytery in Utah.
- Directed by Anthony Thomas, a ruling elder from Park City Presbyterian Church and a former senior business executive, who left mid-career having been called by the Utah churches.
- It is a church planting network engaged in: recruiting and resourcing church planters and campus ministers; matching planters to strategic locations; affiliating planters with existing Utah churches; and leadership development.
- It is the catalyst of a multiplication movement in recognizing and engaging positive, emergent evolution.
- Recognized by Mission to North America (MNA) as the sole entity for calling church planters in Utah.
- An approved ministry of the Northern California Presbytery - its MNA and RUF Committees.
